I’ve been using the Bosch SMS2ITW08G dishwasher for the past 18 months, running it daily in our household. In that time, it’s proven to be a reliable and efficient appliance for the most part but has one notable issue. Here’s my take on how it performs after regular, long term use.
Capacity, Cleaning Performance and Noise Level
If you’re looking for a solid all around dishwasher, the Bosch SMS2ITW08G certainly ticks most of the boxes. I’m impressed with its cleaning performance. it handles everyday dish loads with ease and leaves everything spotless. We can easily fit 8 place settings with some other miscellaneous kitchen utensils. It’s also relatively quiet, which is always a bonus when you don’t want a noisy appliance disrupting your household.
The Smart App Feature: A Major Plus
One of the main reasons I chose this dishwasher was its smart connectivity, and the Home Connect app has been great. The app allows you to schedule wash cycles effortlessly, shows you exactly how long is left, and sends app notifications when the cycle is finished. It even alerts you if the rinse aid or salt is running low.
If you’re on a cheaper energy tariff at night, like we are, the ability to easily set your dishwasher to run during those off peak hours is fantastic. I’ve found myself using the app more than the buttons on the machine itself because of how convenient it is to schedule start times from my phone.
Unresponsive Buttons
The buttons on the front of the dishwasher, particularly the power button, can be unresponsive at times. I have to press the power button multiple times to get the machine to turn on or off, which can be frustrating. From what I’ve seen, I’m not alone – others have also reported this issue. Given that Bosch is typically known for fantastic build quality and reliable appliances, this was a bit disappointing.
However, since I mainly use the app to start and schedule my dishwasher, it’s not a deal breaker for me. But, for those who rely on the physical buttons, this could be a source of annoyance. The buttons are by no means unusable, just quite frustrating.
Final Verdict
Overall, the Bosch SMS2ITW08G is a great dishwasher that does its core job very well. The smart app integration is excellent, particularly for energy conscious users. That said, the unresponsive buttons are a big let down.
